Orphaned at birth, Skywise is the resident astronomer of the Wolfriders. His name comes from his passion for the stars. While Skywise had always been Cutter's counselor, confidant, and close friend, the relationship between them changed dramatically when the Palace returned from its ten thousand year trip forward in time. The now vast difference in their ages and the loss of Skywise's wolfblood has created a gulf between the "brothers in all but blood". For a brief time, Skywise was advisor to Ember and after a somewhat rocky start, they both got the hang of things. Nothing, however, can diminish Skywise's jovial and rakish manner, or his way with the ladies.

Skywise has fathered at least one child, Yun, outside of Recognition with an unidentified Go-Back mother. Since Timmain's return to the Wolfriders, Skywise has been a drawn to her and she to him. They have become virtually inseparable, giving rise to speculation that Skywise and Timmain are destined to Recognize one another. He increasingly feels like an outsider to his own people but after the Palace Shards were reunited and the Palace left the bonds of the World of Two Moons, Skywise knew that he was truly where he belonged. He took the palace to the place of his birth, Goodtree's rest where the father tree was raised. He resides in the palace now as a pupil and possible lovemate of Timmain.

 

Aroree was one of the Chosen Eight. When she met Skywise, he opened her eyes to a wider world. Aroree saw in Skywise a spark - one that was missing from her life. She desperately wanted to flee Blue Mountain and lead a life far from it's shadow. When Aroree saw young Windkin, she recognized her escape route: she kidnapped him, taking him to Blue Mountain, where she presented him to Winnowill. Aroree begged Winnowill to release her in exchange for Windkin: "Something is ... wrong with me! I - I cannot live here in Blue Mountain any longer!"

After Blue Mountain collapsed, Aroree lost her whole way of life. Called 'Sad Eyes', she eventually joined the others in Thorny Mountain Holt as they awaited the return of the Palace from its ten thousand year journey into the future. She sought the solace from the only one she believed left to her - Skywise. It is unclear what became of Aroree after the Palace was reassembled and the elfin tribes reunited. She volunteered to accompny Venka and Two-Edge on a search to find Kahvi, so that she might learn the fate of Tyldak

 

Dewshine, swift and graceful as a deer, is the most agile and free-spirited of the Wolfriders - and that takes some doing! She has a beautiful voice, full of melody and laughter. Song and dance are passions with her and she has a talent for mimicking birdsong. Dewshine came to Recognition early and unexpectedly, with the shapechanged Glider Tyldak. The child of that Recognition was Windkin. Her longtime lovemate, Scouter, adopted the cub as his own. Cutter took the tribe far away just before the palace was stolen, She and Scouter stayed behind in the desert with Windkin, Rainsong, Woodlock, Newstar and Mender. She was in the desert when Kahvi attacked the Sunfolk. When Cutter and his took to sleeping in the wrapstuff, she and Scouter were pulled to fallow him. She slept until the palace returned and she could join her tribe once again.

Centuries after the birth of her own cub, it was Dewshine who watched her lovemate find Recognition with Tyleet rather than her. However, Dewshine saw things differently than Scouter had so long ago: while the all-encompassing "knowing" within Recognition was what Scouter had tried for but could never reach with Dewshine, Dewshine did not feel like an outsider because of it; on the contrary, having tasted the joys of Recognition herself, she had nothing but happiness for Scouter and Tyleet, and therefore was easily accepted by them into what has become a strong and loving three-mating. Indeed, they voluntarily exchanged their soul names (very significant considering Dewshine's encounters with Winnowill), cementing the bond. She now trees with Scouter and Tyleet. In her time in howling rock she was nearly killed by poison snake bites as she took Tier to the king of the shapechanged ones. She voluntered to do this and nearly lost her life for it. Mender saved her. She fallowed Ember after Cutter returned with the palace and the tribes rearanged themselves again. She fallowed Ember to Khulki's Mountain Holt. 

 

Scouter has the sharpest eyes of all the Wolfriders. It is from his keen eye sight that he gains his name. Scouter is steadfast, loyal, and often overprotective. He is extremely intolerant of anyone, tribemates included, whom he perceives as putting his loved ones in jeopardy. Dewshine and Scouter have been lovemates for most of their lives, yet are not Recognized. When Dewshine unexpectedly Recognized the shapechanged Glider, Tyldak, Scouter had a difficult time accepting it, yet because of his love for Dewshine, he pledged to be a father to Dewshine's cub.

Two years later, however, Dewshine sensed that Scouter still felt like an "outsider" where the cub was concerned. As remedy, when she went into labor, she told her lovemate that she wanted only his help in bringing the new cub into the world. Her wisdom paid off: Scouter accepted the cub, named Windkin, as his own, fighting for him as fiercely as a blood-father. Ten thousand years later, when Scouter Recognized Tyleet, Dewshine rejoiced. Scouter was to finally have a cub of his own. Later they formed a three mate bond and voluntary exchanged soul names. They are now raising their son, Pool together.

Scouter stayed behind in the desert with Dewshine and WIndkin when Cutter took his tribe to find the misterious calling Suntop was hearing. He was there when Kahvi attacked the Sunfolk, and when Cutter took to sleeping in wrapstuff to wait for Leetah and the Twins to return He felt compelled to fallow his chief. He slept until the palace returned and then joined his tribe again. When the tribe slit up he fallowed Ember as a scout and hunter, and when Cutter returned with the palace and the tribe rearanged yet again, he fallowed Ember willingly.

When Pool was kidnapped Scouter went mad and challenged Ember thinking she was not a fit leader if she could alow this to happen. He nearly killed her, then left her behind to die. He tracked down the kidnapper and when Ember showed up he gave back the chief's lock voluntarily, the wisdom of the others sinking in. He now lives on Khulki's Mountain Holt with his two mates and his son. 

 

Tyleet was the first child to be born to the Wolfriders in the New Land and Thorny Mountain Holt. Her name means "Healer's Gift." Tyleet has a soft heart, especially where humans are concerned. For example: she adopted a human infant, Little Patch, and raised it as a Wolfrider - as much as any human could learn to be. Tyleet never thinks ill of others, even attempting to see Rayek's side of things.

Calm and gentle like her father, Tyleet is not above breaking tribal rules if she thinks it's for the good of the tribe. Tyleet, though a risk-taker, is not reckless. She never takes a chance unless there is an important prize to gain for her tribe. Still, it's admitted that Tyleet acts first and thinks about the consequences later. Tyleet's risk-taking proved nightmarish to her lifemate Scouter, whose overprotective bent became very active after their Recognition. Sometime later she gave birth to a son, named Pool. Tyleet, Scouter, and Dewshine have formed a three-mating, voluntarily exchanging soul names with one another and creating a bond as strong as Recognition. At the end of the War with the Djun, Scouter, Tyleet and Dewshine chose to follow Ember back to Howling Rock Holt.

While at Howling Rock she helped kill the shapechanged and raised her son with Dewshine and Scouter. She attempted to adopt the human girl Gifa not knowing she ws the Djunn's daughter. Gifa attempted to kill the tribe, including Tyleet, with poisoned food. After they were healed and Gifa ran away, Tyleet fallowed her to kill her, not knowing if she would be abil to. She ended up watching Gifa's own brother kill her and dump the body. This traumatizerd her and she ran back to her home pulling Pool into her arms. When pool was kidnapped she was disapointed in Scouter for Challenging Ember, though she went along with it. It was her that hellped change his mind and give Ember back the chief's lock. She now lives in Khulki's Mountain holt.

 

 

Pool is the son of Scouter and Tyleet but is being raised by them as well as Dewshine in a threesom Lifemateing. He grew up at Howling Rock with Sust and Idolizes Tier, copying his hairstyle and use of a bow. Strongbow would be impressed with his skill. He also has a magic feeling similar to Sunstream, only he sees amll bits of the future more then just hearing things. He can feel the magic residue of anything that has been magiked (shaped, healed, changed) He was kidnapped by humans and then rescued by his father. He lives now in Khulki Mountain Holt.

 

Pike is the Wolfrider's resident storyteller - getting his name from his preferred weapon. He is the most ordinary and happy-go-lucky of the Wolfriders. Pike has no grand ideals or desires for quests - he is a follower rather than a leader and he rarely questions his chief's orders. He is fully engrossed in the Now of Wolf Thought and clings through it all to his two greatest loves: dreamberries and taking the easy path. Pike's complete devotion to dreamberries is unrivaled among the Wolfriders.

After the Elf-Troll War, Pike formed a three-mating with Krim and Skot, two Go-Backs who followed the Wolfriders back to the Forbidden Grove Holt. Considering themselves lifemated, they were often seen clowning around, with much good-natured ribbing and punching. Still, the love among them was unmistakable. Although Pike's nature is usually jovial, death and danger have dealt him his share of heartache. The death of Vaya (Kahvi's daughter), Cheipar (Krim's infant son) left him speechless with grief. Yet nowhere have we seen Pike's heart more wounded than by Skot's death. Time and the Now of wolf thought have healed Pike of his heartaches. He and Krim joined Ember at Howling Rock Holt where they lived fighting and killing Winnowill's leftovers. He fallowed Ember to Khulki Mountain holt.

 

Krim is a fiery warrior and lover that would make even her hero, Kahvi, proud. A Go-Back that joined the Wolfriders along with Skot, they formed a three-mating with Pike after the Elf-Troll War. Krim had a child, named Cheipar, during the long years of the Palace's disappearance, but the child died in infancy. Who fathered the child is unclear, though it is surmised to be either Pike or Skot. Krim's battle-lust is legendary. Even after she learned she was with child, during the Djun's War, woe to the tribemate who tried to keep her from the forefront of battle! After Skot's death, Krim and Pike returned to Howling Rock Holt with Ember to clear the land of any shapechanged creatures left after the Howling Rock siege and to have her son. They fallowed Ember to Khulki Mountain Holt. She was devestated to hear of Kahvi's death.
